Finally!!! I’ve found a pair of pants that fit and it happens to be a style that I have been after for a long time but could never find in petite. Well, thanks to Express, I now have them and I’ve also got a casual, yet career look that I had been in need of. Besides the look and fit, these pants are incredibly soft and are so comfortable!!! I hope to be soon wearing these to work and then wearing them out and about afterwards.
These pants come in four colors – black, blue, eggplant, and olive green. Olive is one of my favorite colors to wear so this was an easy choice – even for a summer look. Because I am not entirely familiar with the petite line at Express, I ordered them in both XXS and XS in the hopes that at least one had to fit. It wasn’t close, I was swimming in the XS and the XXS fit perfectly. The shirt I am wearing is from Guess; I bought it a few months ago and it’s no longer available. Express has this top which is comparable and just as cute.
The outfit: Express Mid-Rise Pant (XXSP) | Express Cutaway Jacket (0P) | Short-Sleeve Top (similar)
If you want to dress this outfit up or have it look more professional, you can put on a blazer and it instantly adds to the look (I am wearing my blazer in a size 0P). It took me a while to warm up to this blazer as it’s shape differs from what I usually wear. The body of the jacket slightly flares out, making it less form fitting than what I am accustomed to. After a great deal of deliberation, I decided to keep it because I love its cropped look and the three-quarter length sleeves. The blazer would also look great with a dress or skirt and I’m very pleased with my decision.
I was excited last spring when Express added a petite line but I have to say that I am disappointed that despite shopping their site almost weekly, this is the first petite outfit I’ve gotten there. It’s not that I haven’t been able to find anything that I liked, it’s that I haven’t been able to find anything that I liked in my size. I’m not sure if their sales volume is higher than they had originally expected or if they are still working out their production and forecasting systems for petites, but since April every time I’ve gone to place an order for an item, my size was never available. Despite this and based on my recent purchase, I will keep shopping Express. Also, this is a reminder to everyone that if you see something you like in your size, grab it, because it’s more than likely that it will soon be gone.
