I typically avoid large patterns but who said petites can’t be bold too! Although it has been said that petites should stay away from large prints, there are always some exceptions to a rule. Large patterns will at times make petites appear wider and shorter, but this does not always have to apply.
Here are some simple tips for petites who want to be bold with printed dresses:
Stick to a print with few color variations.
Make sure the pattern is not too scattered and that there is a nice flow throughout the pattern.
Wear fitted dresses that sit above the knee. This doesn’t mean skintight, as long as it is fitted at the waist and in length. Flowy dresses with large prints can look overwhelming on a small frame. The idea is not to look like your wearing your grandmother’s drapes! (not that there is anything wrong with your grandmother’s drapes, they’re just better off hanging from the window 🙂 ).
The fewer the accessories, the better. If accessories are a must, wear delicate jewelry.
