Other than rompers, I find that dresses are an easy way to look and feel cute. For my wardrobe, I’ve tried to find a dress for every occasion – I’m talking grocery shopping, pool party, dinner, brunch, events, and the list goes on. Besides how I feel in a dress, the practical side of me loves them because they’re simple and know I wont have to stand in front of the closet debating which top to wear with which pants.
Now, as we all know finding dresses that fit is another story altogether. I found the two dresses I’m wearing in this post at Bebe and I’ve been fairly lucky finding some great looks there. You may be aware that recently, Bebe announced it would be shutting down all of their stores and operate solely as an online retailer. I love the sales and all (and I realize this isn’t a post for business school) but it’s alarming how many retailers have closed or announced significant restructuring plans this year alone. Specific to Bebe, as a shopper the decision to shut down their brick and mortar operations was disappointing because trying clothes on for fit just got a whole lot harder for me; plus, who doesn’t love instant gratification? I think we’ll see more and more of this and for this model to succeed, they will need to differentiate themselves with their looks and the online experience they create for customers.
It won’t come as much of a surprise to anyone when I say ruffles are everywhere this season and while I watch what I spend very closely when it comes to trendier looks, I must admit, my closet is starting to overflow with ruffles!!! It also won’t come as a surprise to you when I say the many shades of the color coral is also everywhere. I think it’s the perfect color for summer. I love that that the dress I’m wearing (above) as its perfect for brunch or a barbecue; it’s a beautiful shade of coral and will go perfectly with a bronzed summer tan (that I am still seeking). I chose to wear it with flats (and other times with flip-flops) because I felt it give the dress a more casual feel. I love how this dress makes feel however I do need to share that the straps are not adjustable and are a bit long; so, it’s one of the lower-cut dresses I own.
It wasn’t long after trying this dress on that I knew I had to have it – instant gratification and instant confidence boost!!! If you’ve looked at my posts before, you’ll know I like to stick with neutrals and muted colors, but felt I could stray a little with this one. This fiery red shade of coral was just as eye-catching I love how it’s cinched at the waist. the slit on the leg is beautifully lined with lace and the length hits directly above the knee – a rarity for petites. I’ve had good luck paring this with wedges or stilettos. Whatever you’re wearing this week, I hope it has you feeling as fabulous as this dress makes me feel.
